How Backstage works?
As an all-in-one HR system (HRMS), Backstage helps you manage employee profile, payroll, MPF, tax filing, leave scheduling, timesheet, roster management and expense management. Backstage also supports download and upload of data, and also data analytics.
Backstage Interface Introduction

Quick Introduction to Backstage Vocabulary
- Organization: There are two types of organizations, Parent organization(Headquarter) and organization(Branch)
- Applicant: Employee
- Placement: Employee job position (Attached to each applicant)
- Roster: Working Schedule (eg: Monday to Friday)
- Timesheet: Employee attendance record (Report time and leave time)
- Leave Entry: Leave records, taken leave
- Leave Type: Self-defined leave types such as annual leave, sick leave or compensation leave etc
- Leave Entitlement: Self-defined leave policy (eg: 10 entitled days per year for annual leave, 120 entitled days per year for sick leave)
- Pay type: Self-defined salary type (eg: Basic salary, OT salary, Double pay, Commission etc)
What is Master Data?
Master Data is the elemental information for Backstage to perform HR duties. For example, you should input information such as Company bank account, Pension fund trustees, Pay type (Salary type) and Job order template (Salary formula) so Backstage can make your payroll duties easier with these data.
Creating Master data in Backstage
''Code'' in Backstage can't be modified once created, while ''Name'' can be modified anytime, and these master data can't be deleted once it was used by Applicant and Placement.
When Master data was used or in use, it can't be deleted. More precisely, all types of Master data can't be deleted after Staffs(Applicant and Placement) were created.
What is Transaction Data?
If Master Data is branches of a tree, then Transaction Data is more like leaves of a tree, which these leaves rely on branches, that will grow and fall recurrently, like leave entry, leave application and payroll batches etc. Unlike Master Data, Transaction Data could be deleted anytime you want because they are records only, not elemental information.
How to import and export files and records?
Except adding files and records one by one, you can also add them by importing an excel file which carries a batch of records so you don't have to add 100 applicant files by ''Add New'', ''Add New'' and ''Add New''......
Details for importing/exporting excel files would be explained in next steps...
